Allow Sketch Relax Mode support from the Direct Edit tool

Allow Sketch Relax Mode support from the Direct Edit tool

I'm not sure how far, technically, this idea could go. But in it's simplest form it doesn't seem that much of a stretch. I'd like to see a face rotation manipulate the base sketch of the extrusion. Ideally it would also apply an angular dimension to the sketch, instead of just removing any neccessary constraints.

I don't see why in this case the sketch couldn't be modified appropriately.

In fact it should occur with a simple push/pull on a face as well.

If you want to edit a skecth, just edit it. Why do you want to add a new featue like DirectEdit? I think this type of a use of direct edit command is not appropriate or logical.

Direct Edit was added in 2015. This is a request to enhance that tool so that when people do use it, it modifies the model properly.

I think I couldn't express myself correctly. I surely know that Direct Edit was added in 2015, and understand that your suggestion is about an enhancement for the working principle of this command.

Just to be sure; the behaviour of Direct Edit you suggest makes changes in the sketch of the editing feature (e.g. extrude, revolve, etc.), right?

So, let me repeat myself: Why do you need to use Direct Edit in order to edit a sketch?

Plus, how do we know which sketches are changed by Direct Edit? Because there will probably be more than one consumed sketches forming a face of our model... I think in that case, it is almost impossible to keep our sketches under control.

Hi SerkenCicek,

DirectEdit is a feature you can use in different kind of situations.

For example I add some pictures.

This is a Ducati Monster Rearset I just designed for my customer DPNS Racing Parts www.dpns.nl.

When you have designed something and after you are finished you find a little problem.

With the DirectEdit feature it is easy to change things like this.

Kind regards,

Hello Marco.

I think everyone here knows how to use Direct Edit command and what does it used for. Unfortunately I cannot understand the purpose of your comment... Is it really relevant to this thread?

You wouldn't need to know, because it has changed the base sketch & feature to match the change. Have you used Solid Edge Sync Tech at all?

I have not used Sync Tech at all. Does it add a new feature to the feature tree like "DirectEdit1" or it is just a tool to modify the skecthes and features using the resultant solid model easily?
