Add part list properties to leader text

The 2025 release of Inventor added the ability to reference part list properties in text boxes (general notes). This is VERY useful for drawing notes that reference item numbers, part descriptions, etc. so that they auto-update if additional parts are added to the BOM or if things are otherwise moved around. 

Where this falls short is when you want to do the same thing with the leader text. For some reason, the same functionality was not implemented in the leader text tool. It would be fantastic to duplicate the ability to reference part list information in the leader text tool.

Still back on INV 2021, see no reason to update ATM

Always wanted to be able to select the top level assembly for a project, somehow tell it how many of these top level assemblies we are making (Global quantity) and the quantities for that complete project are automatically updated on the idw.

Would save quite a bit of time if these were on the idw/pdf.

Sure INV would have to open and update this quantity -could have it in the title block

I already have most of the standard INV properties in the idw title block already

Anyway sounds like 2025 is heading that way? 

I find Leader text usually should be quite small, if there are lots of leaders then the end user gets confused.

There is always a case for adding more info, using the similar if not clunky parts list function would work

This is the first thing I noticed when they implremented it because most texts where this feature becomes handy are leader texts. I'm kind of surprised they only did it for regular text.

I would prefer "Text" and "Leader Text" would actually be the same thing. Want to add leader later, no problem. And the leader could have same option as "Sketch symbol" to make it hidden instead of deleting it. This way you can always see where it is attached when you move the text. 

This is funny how Inventor has similar features but each is implemented differently - almost like they were developed by different teams that didn't know the other teams existed 🙂

I was really excited to use the item number in a text box, only to discover after all this time only half the problem is solved.

Completely agree with the comments here. This was a great feature to add, but it was half baked in only adding it for text boxes. This needs to be added for leaders and realistically anywhere you would put text on a drawing, like weld note tails or dimensions. We often reference PC numbers in weld tails to describe if a certain PC needs to be welded before others. Or to make it clear a dimension is the length of a PC instead of a different dimension.

Hard to believe this feature was added over 2 years ago and we still don't even have the leader note ability yet, let alone everywhere on a drawing.

@johnsonshiue Do you know if anyone is working on expanding this functionality into the other drawing annotations?
