3D Animated PDF

Hey...

My name is Destiny. My husband John and I have been trying to find an option to export animated 3D PDFs. Inventor Publisher is really great but unfortunately it does not transfer the animation from Inventor to Inventor Publisher for export to 3D PDF. There are few software applications that do this. Simlab is a cheap option and very good but limited. 3D Via Composer is amazing but way too expensive for our basic use. 

In case people here did not know, Autodesk is the ONLY software company in the world who provides ALL of their software to schools and teachers totally free of charge to use without restrictions such as water marks. It is for this reason we are proud to promoted Autodesk software in all the schools we teach at. Unfortunately, this generosity is not very common, in fact its unique to Autodesk. Most companies provide a reduced price but often it’s a yearly license fee, which for teachers can end up costing a lot of money. We do not actually teach Autodesk software, but we try to learn it anyway just in case one day we do. We currently use Autodesk software to create learning and teaching resources for young students, mostly interactive 3D media for use on schools Interactive White Boards, however our 3D models are very basic.

Animated interactive 3D is a great media to show young students motion, friction, push and pull etc and its also a great way to engage the disengaged students. 

Inventor is not easy to use us but the YouTube videos we have viewed make us realize that we just miss understood processes, probably due to not having any CAD training.. We can see that the snapping/conforming to parts is just amazing. I realize that we can export to a movie file but it’s not the same. John and I made this demo Animated 3D PDF when we used the trail version of 3D Via Composer. You will see you can view the animated object in motion as well as rotate and zoom in on it. This is what we would like to see Inventor Publisher to be able to do.. Something that it cannot yet do..

Hey.. Thank you for the Kudos! 

I thought it appropriate to add a Simlab animated 3D PDF demo. Simlab is very good and getting better but Inventor is far more advanced yet, as I have pointed out, the animation option cannot be exported into a 3D PDF. Inventor has unique conforming tools which we feel are wasted. 

There are a few other improvements we would like to see with Inventor but we will reserve those until we understand more about Inventor. Inventor is already a brain numbing mind bogglingly wonderful software but, there is still room for improvement.. 

Sure wish there was a Mac version..

Have you considered look at autodesk showcase, as an alternative to creating a 3d PDF you can use showcase to create simple animations and using a free viewer let the students 'play' with it. if you would like more information please contect me.

Hi Graham...

We would like to see some demos and more info on this.. We did not know Showcase did any kind of animation.. We thought it was more for high end rendering of products..

Thanks for the great feedback, however, animation is not supported for 3D PDF out though, but the alternative solution more like to export IPN/presentation as DWF, hope it helps!
