Hi @sgwilliams, I tested the workflow you mentioned on 2023.2 but cannot seem to reproduce the issue, even with a similar query involving letters/numbers/dashes. It seems like an additional issue is happening in your case, where not only are your results not returned as expected, but the "No Results" dialog also does not display. Sorry you're dealing with this. Does this issue happen reliably and with different data/queries, or is it intermittent? Perhaps a fresh install of Inventor could fix the issue. Are there any other steps leading up to typing in the filter that may have contributed to the issue? Thanks very much.
Hi Why do Autodesk release a product as this year Home Screen as you are aware of the quality of the product? Strange method to use by Autodesk, letting us as your customers struggling and be less productive as a product like this is released "well known". Please stay away from a decision like this in the feature. Your customers design time is less and critical. Yes, I can work to together with you, just take contact.
@rena_andrewsWe just upgraded all our workstations to Inventor Professional 2023. All computers have current Windows updates and Inventor is fully patched. I can reproduce this issue on everyone of our workstations, it is not just my one computer. If the dev team needs any information from our operating systems I would be glad to provide that information. All our workstations are custom black box built computers, we do not buy off the shelf equipment. We do use standard off the shelf components to build them. I not only handle all new product design at our company I manage, build and maintain our IT infrastructure. We are all running Windows 11 Pro OS. We are all connected to a local domain. We also use Vault Professional for our engineering data management.
On 2/28/23 you said, `Thank you for all your feedback. Unfortunately, the previous my home was based on an out-of-date tech stack which makes it almost impossible to come back. The new App Home is being continuously invested across Autodesk hero products and is going to be better over time, please bear with us for the iterations."
If the old way is no longer useable, why not create a similar system in the new My Home, where pinned items are in an upper tile and unpinned items are in a second tile on the home screen, basically a simple emulation of the old way where it was clear what was pinned and what was not?
Hi @sgwilliams thank you for all of the information!
Upon further investigation, we have likely identified the cause of the problem you're experiencing. We're tracking the issue and dev is currently working on a fix. The fix version is set to 2023.3, I hope this works for you.
@rena_andrewsMost excellent, Thanks for the help. Yes we should be fine until then. It just slows us down a tad, nothing that keeps us from working and producing our data.
Something weird I just noticed on the Home screen. When viewing the list of recent files (text only, no thumbnails), there seems to be no way to pin a file, though you have the ability to remove all unpinned files. Please add Pin/Unpin to the right click and/or 3 dot options tiles.
Thanks, I see it now. Too bad there doesn't seem to be an ability to move the columns, I would prefer to have the pinned selector in the left column. Or am I not noticing a way to reorganize the columns?
The Home page is a whole new interface and they are still working out the aesthetics and bugs. You can access the column settings in the little gear icon in the upper right corner. Use the double handlebars to grab and drag the columns where you want them in the column settings dialog.
@RichardCizik7701Sorry, I did not notice that for some reason they have the Name and the pinned handlebars greyed out so they cannot be moved. They need to fix that, I agree.
@sgwilliams Yes you're correct - the Name column is "fixed" to the first/left position in the grid while the Pinned column is fixed to the right/last position in the grid. Thanks for your feedback, I'll let my team know you would like to be able to customize the position of all of the columns, including Name and Pinned. We're still adding new features to and polishing AppHome, any feedback is welcome. Much Appreciated. Cc @RichardCizik7701, @steinar_sorem
I appreciate the developers working with the end users. I have used Inventor since version 5 and this collaboration was not always available. I have to say it is a huge improvement in the frustration level with some of the changes.
SGWilliams, While I haven't been using Inventor as long as you (AutoCAD R10-2012 and Inventor 2010 or 2012 to current), I concur the interaction between AutoDesk crew and the users is greatly improved and appreciated.
@sgwilliams Wow, that's so awesome how long you've been in the space, and I'm very glad to hear the collaboration has improved so much since then. Having your seasoned feedback and collaboration is very appreciated. I have been with Autodesk for 9 months and have been impressed with the involvement between designers/engineers and our users, they understand the end-user knows what is most convenient and conducive for productive workflows - although there are disagreements among users at times of course. 😊 I appreciate the patience as we work to continuously improve these features. Though external dependencies are involved, the team is already discussing planning the changes to the Name and Pinned columns mentioned above. Cheers! Cc @RichardCizik7701
After some time using this I noticed that if I pin something, the search functionality returned to the Home Screen on my workstation. I just tried to duplicate this on another Inventor workstation that has the same issue and I was not able to repeat the fix. This is very confusing to me. I guess we will have to see if it is fixed in the next patch. Just thought that this was relevant to our discussion.
