WTF DID AUTODESK DO TO INVENTOR - RANDOM SETTINGS STOP WORKING EXTRUDING?

I have been using inventor for  years - I moved to a new company and got a new seat of inventor a couple weeks ago.  I have had nothing but issues with 2020.  Settings randomly changing.  Context menu ( Properties) completely disappearing and not being able to get them to show back up.  - Simple extrusion options magically go away - (NO THE PRESETS OR LAST USED IS NOT ACTIVATED - Screen shot shows it is because I was toggling it to see if it would break out of the funk).  I am trying to extrude a simple square shape but it only wants to cut.  It does not even give me the option to change from extrusion/cut/subtract?  Why does autodesk keep "improving" screwing up things that worked fine.  This is killing my productivity.  I just about to go back to my personal copy of an older - working release of inventor.

@JDHarris4Z7UZ  You are in an assembly. Inventor has never allowed you to extrude (join) in an assembly unless you are editing the part in the context of an assembly.. So cut is your only option and always has been.

Its a new part in an assembly -  Either way - I had to restart the program and got it working again.  Feel like I am wasting a ton of time with this release fixing random settings that activate unintentionally.  Never had the issues I have with this release using every release since 2013.  I think when I finish with this project I am going to move on the 2021 and pretend like everything else 2020 that it didnt happen.

The image you shows clearly indicates you were creating an assembly level sketch/feature and were not editing a part.  If you were actively editing a part the model browser would be grayed out, the ribbon pane for extrude would say "Create" not "Modify Assembly", you would see the "Return" button to return to the assembly,etc..

But whatever...

Have you ensured you have installed all updates for 2020? I have been using 2020 for over a year now without any problems like that.  You may also just have a corrupt user profile or something like that which is certainly possible. You might want to try the Inventor reset utility as well as ensuring your user profile has proper permissions to write to the registry. Some companies IT departments lock down users quite a bit and that could be a potential issue too..

Hi Folks,

Yes, the ribbon panel shows it is the 3D Model tab in assembly, not in part. Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and Inventor 2020.3 update is installed (followed by 2020.3.2 update).

Many thanks!
