wrong priority of dimensions in sketch

Hello,

I have a new clean unoptimised instalation of inventor on my computer and I have an anoying problem. When I edit a sketch in a part in a assembly I cannot select dimensions, or lines drawn ower any surface of the active part. Inventor automaticly selects the surface instead the dimension or part. The only way to select the dimension/ line is by hovering over them and selecting them from the popup window.

Also, when I switch priority to notifiation The dimensions do not select.

Does anybody have any Idea what to do?

Thank you in advance

Hi! The behavior is due to the default Select Priority in assembly. It defaults to Select Component Priority, meaning components will be selected when you hover over geometry. Try changing the Select Priority to Sketch Features (one of the green buttons at quick access bar at the top). Does it work better now?

Many thanks!

Hello @Anonymous I see that you are visiting as a new member to the Inventor Forum.
Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Did changing your selection settings to Sketch Features help get your dimensions selected?

If you can record a screencast of the behavior it might be helpful in showing what you are experiencing.

Hello and thank you all for your reply.

First of, sorry for the late reply.

So, the issue has been resolved. Apperently, when our admin installed my new copy of inventor, he forgot to install all the available updates and there was also an issue with the autoupdate not working. After a few restarts of the system and some time inventor finally updated and is now working ok.

The moral of the story is: Don't forget to uptate your software.

Thanks again
