Workflow? - Inventor 3D model to .u3d or .prc file extension for use in pdf

Does anyone know of a workflow or converter that can get me from Inventor through to a .u3d or .prc file?

If I can convert to this filetype I can then insert it the 3D content into an existing pdf.

I am currently running INV 2017 using the Simlab plugin for 3D pdfs. Most of the time this solution works just fine for me.

I have found the out of the box Anark Core to be unreliable.

Please don't respond with info on either of these options as I am specifically interested in inserting 3D content into an

existing 2d  document using  acrobat's "add 3D object tool".

In order to use this tool I need to have either a .u3d or .prc file.

Any advice on how to convert to these filetypes?

Thanks in advance

I am curious to see if anyone is using .u3d as well, so forgive me for leeching onto your post.

Our Adobe "add 3D object tool" allows us to use STP files, sorta: Our work around, is we have a very simple 3D shape - a cube in the pdf template. Then we use the "replace 3D object" which gives more file type options then the "add 3D object" for some reason.

I have the "add 3D object" tool.

But, I cannot seam to find a "replace 3d object" tool or option.

I have inserted a .prc file but that's as far as I can get.

Thanks

Nevermind,

I figured it out.

All I have to do is create the 3d pdf using the simlab exporter and then copy and paste the view into whatever pdf I want.

Duh...

Sorry for the delay;

We are using Tetra4D Converter - it must be specific to that plug-in if you don't see it (it is right beside the "add 3D object" for us).

Glad you found a work around solution!
