Work plane used in drawing mode

I have inventor 2016 and was wondering if there was a way to take a work plane from the model and use it in the drawing as a view.  Since inventor doesn't allow you to take a section from a section It would be easier to be able to start with a view that I can just take the section directly from. the form creating section views from work plane doesn't help me. When I go to look for view node in the search bar it tells me that it does not exist. So I am assuming those directions were for either an easier or later version of inventor then I currently have. If there is a way to do this in inventor could you please send me screen shots of the step by step process that you use

I think there is a way to accomplish what you want far easier than you might suspect.

But, I'm not really sure what you want.

Can you attach files? Example images? Hand drawn sketch?

Hi bralick1221,

I think you might just need to Include it, as described here:

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

Hello JDMather,

I want this view below that I created a work plane for.

On the drawing start up view so I can take a section from it.

Below are the only options that I have in selecting the base view.

None of these gives me an option to select the created plane from my model.

This reference that I found on line that I took a screen shot and have it
below does not work. Its telling me to expand the view node. I have no
option in inventor 2016 for the view node.

as you can see from the screen shot below in the comand search bar I am
only giving the options for insert node, move node and stitch.

when i type in view node I get a no valid response.

I am wondering if you have a solution and a step by step to be able to
bring in a new view as my base view on the drawing.

Thanks,
Amanda Bralick

Hello!

Did you found out how to do it? I have the same problem!

Hi! Like Curtis indicated, you will need to include the work geometry in the drawing. For workplane, it will only make sense if the given workplane is perpendicular to the view direction. If it is not perpendicular, the workplane cannot be projected to the view plane. Workaxis does not have the restriction though.

If above does not apply to you, please elaborate your question or start a new thread. The issue you are having may not be the same as this original thread.

Many thanks!

I am not sure if this is only the case for me but I can not see any pictures from above post so I am not able to follow up the problem.

Can you explain your problem with some images?

Cris.
