Is there an inventor equivalent to Autocad's "wipeout"?

Can you describe more of what you're trying to do?  There is not a direct equivalent, but if we know your need, someone may be able to suggest an alternative.

I think only if you create a view sketch in your drawing, then make a polygon/closed loop and hatch it solid (pick white or background color for it).

it doesn't cover what is under it,  ie there is no draw order like autocad

where you can switch under and over

if you are trying to hide part geometry you could try breakout and cut all the way thru.

Unfortunately, we dont have a way to do a 2D hide of one sketch object with another one - like the wipeout command. However, you could consider assigning those sketch entities to a layer and turning that layer off - that would be the closest method.

No that wouldn't work either for what I want to do.

I was just wandering if it could do wipeouts and draworder like autocad.

That would have suited my purpose perfectly

Now I know that it cant, but that doesn't make it a bad software,

It is still a fantastic software

I am not sure what your workflows are but you could create an Inventor dwg file and open it in AutoCAD and try to access those sketch items and see if you can do the wipeout.

No I dont want to do that.

I have one  titleblock template which I want to change to 2 templates, one for a sheet with 2d views that shows the scale of the 1st view automatically and one for a sheet with 3d views that doesnt show the scale because 3d view dont have scales. Temporarily until I create the new  2nd template, I cant take the scale out of sheet 2 (3d views) by modifying and saving the template because it will take the scale out of sheet 1 (2d views) where I do want the scale

I was just temporarily wanting to wipeout the scale appearing on the sheet 2 (3d view) titleblock

Hi @MikeKovacik4928 

I see. The only other thing I can think of is for you to make a copy of your title block and remove the scale from the copy. Then delete the title block in the sheet you dont want scale to be displayed and insert the new title block you just copied/created.

I wish we had a whiteout capability - like insert an image onto a sheet with the same background as the sheet. That would easily solve it.

Hi Mike, I don't know what you're trying to hide, but if it's 3D geometry in the drawing, you could create a model state, do a big cut through the bit you want to hide and use that model state on the drawing?

@MikeKovacik4928 Try this:

Create a sketch symbol that has the ability to overlap your scale in the titleblock

Make sure it has the same property as the original and change it's text color to white (for print and export) and (important!) turn on "background fill" with the same color.

Save that and insert it into your titleblock.

Hope that works for you, it did in my test anyway...

brilliant!! thanks, would never of thought of something like that.

Nice temporary solution. Nothing at all like the wipeout in autocad,

but very workable if you zoom in and place it over the original text by eye

as close as you can

This is why i mentioned the background fill... so you don't have to match the position as close.

In my screenshot you can see the rectangle around the text that i used to exactly position the text over the titleblock.

This left a small outline of the original text that i managed to cover up using that background fill.

If you crate a shape to suit the wipe out shape you require, fill it "white" and change outline to "sketch only" the outline is invisible but the white shape will hide anything below it. Don't forget to put a node in it so you can locate it and find it.

This worked for me.
