have been using this part for quite a while now with no problems and all
of
the sudden if I try to edit any sketch all of the features below it
fail!
I have posted it to the CF under the subject Cast housing half
and wondered
if anyone could take a look and tell me what happened. Just go
to a feature
and edit the sketch then edit a dimension (don't even change
the value) then
exit the sketch and you will see everything else fail below
it. I can't even
move the EOP because the part will fail when you move it
back down.
HELP! C'mon Adesk I have been on your side on this version
but a part just
up and failing for no reason really scares
me.

I just looked at an older copy of this part
and it does not fail! but the newer part has not changed at all from the
older one! This part is derived into two machined parts and they have changed
a little over time and my old copy of the original part has not seen these
changes to the derives.
I will post the data set for the non failing part
to the CF as well.
I REALLY NEED YOU TO LOOK AT THIS
AUTODESK!
I have provided you with before and after data
sets (you always ask for them) of a real world failure so PLEASE take a
look. I am scared to do any other work until I find out why this
happened!

I've had that happen twice on different
parts. Both were fairly large and complex and both required a huge
amount of rebuilding afterwards (read: much time and money). In
both cases a simple feature near the top of the tree suddenly failed.
All features below which are effected by this feature where knocked out.
Since then I run rebuild all every few features and save a backup copy after
each successful rebuild. I haven't had a problem since
then.
