What's New and Guided Tutorial Series Inventor 2018!

With the release of the Create detail drawings tutorial last night, a new quick start series is available for learning Inventor basics. This series takes you through a faster method of learning the basics for those that don't need the deep dive provided by the Learning path.

  • Part Basics – Create a steering knuckle
  • Assembly Basics – Create a linear drive assembly
  • Drawing Basics – Create detail drawings
  • Sheet Metal + Top-down Basics – Sheet Metal Design

Simply type quick in the keyword field to display the series.GT_series.png

Check them out and give them a try. We’re excited to hear your feedback at: Guided Tutorials Feedback

Go to Inventor Ideas to suggest and vote on additional tutorials.

Hi everyone,

I’ve consolidated all the information about guided tutorials released for 2018 at the bottom of this post.

BTW, in case you haven’t discovered them, there are some great tutorials located on the trial version resource site that cover a wide variety of topics:  https://www.autodesk.com/campaigns/inventor-trial-center

These tutorials are in the traditional PDF/Video/Dataset download format.

I’ve converted three of these into guided tutorials that run in the product - Parts (Steering knuckle - 2017), Sheet Metal (Top down design - 2018), and Assemblies (Create a linear drive assembly) released today! The new assembly tutorial also contains a lego action figure named Carl.

You can refine the gallery to display only the trial version tutorials by using trial or quick in the keyword search area.  Tip - Use the keyword search to display tutorials that use a specific command like sheet metal Fold for example.

Here is a list of all guided tutorials released for 2018 as of today Sept 13:

  • Sheet Metal 3 v2 (new functionality)
  • Create GD&T tolerance features (new functionality)
  • Shrinkwrap for general use (new functionality)
  • DACC Shaft and Gear (with audio!)
  • Create and use Sketch Blocks
  • Sheet Metal Design (trial version quick start)
  • 3D Annotation (with audio!) (2018 functionality)
  • Create a linear drive assembly (trial version quick start - includes Carl) (video of the last task of placing and positioning Carl is here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/132282b9-4a2f-468e-8f71-497313718dce

I just released a new guided tutorial for Inventor 2018.2 that shows a simulated AnyCAD workflow using Fusion Team, Desktop Connector, and Fusion 360 to collaborate on an Inventor design. The videos in this tutorial are narrated so I decided to add an audio icon to the gallery thumbnail image.

I also provided our Autodesk network folks with new thumbnails for existing tutorials in the gallery that have sound. So now all the English tutorials that have sound should be easy to spot. Hopefully that will address the question about why there is no sound in most of the videos.
