I'm getting the entire models (not sure how my client is sending them,) and instead of opening using the files when I open the assembly it makes me this.  If I open any one of the parts, they open as a derived part as well.

Are these 2019 parts or something?

Thanks.  I don't even know what to search for to find info on this.

Hi James,

You are actually seeing a new workflow called FutureCAD. I assume you are opening an assembly file last saved in a newer version of Inventor on an older version of Inventor. For example, you open a 2019 assembly on 2018. You will see the assembly comes in as derive. The files are treated as if they came from a different CAD system. You can reference the geometry for other design purposes in the older release. But, you cannot modify the reference geometry.

Many thanks!
