What does this icon mean?

I've attached a screenshot that shows the Physical tab of part properties. I've been modifying the part, but the volume isn't updating. There's a hand symbol next to the Volume. What does that mean, and why isn't my volume updating?

User has overridden the value.

Delete the number and click Update and it should be automatically replaced.
