Visibility and mirroring

Next question.  How do you make things visible or not visible if they are not a solid?  I imported a piece as a step file which should make it a solid.  It seems to behave as a solid, but the only way to make it invisible is to suppress the feature.  If I import essentially the same piece as an iges or step file but as surfaces, I can use the visibility button.  Confusing and frustrating.

Also, I can not make the piece I import into a solid unless I am missing something.  I would like to be able to do that in order to mirror it.

Import a STEP file does not necessarily mean solid.

Attach your file here and end all doubt.

Thanks again for the prompt reply.

What I meant by I can not make the piece into a solid is that if I import the piece as an iges file, which is surfaces, I can not turn those surfaces into a solid, at least as far as I can tell.

The step does seem to come in as a solid.  File attached to check.

Got the step bit figured out and how to mirror within a part.  Not sure whatI was doing different before.  Thanks for the help.

Best regards, Dave

Stitch or Sculpt for good import surface geometry.

Repair or Construction Environment for poor imported surface geometry (an advanced user topic).
