View Representation problems

Hi everyone,

The view representations do not work at all (Inventor 2016 on Windows 10).

Is this problem solved?

Does anybody know how to fix it?

Regards,

Vlado

Have you installed Service Pack 1 and Update 1?

Can you attach files that exhibit this behavior?

Can you create a Screencast recording of the behavior you see on your machine?

I have installed Update 2.

I have attached the files and the screencast as a normal file.

Am I doing something wrong in this video?

I don't have an rar extractor.

The free rar extrators on the internet are full of mal-ware that I would never install on my Inventor machine.

It looks like Update 2 is 6 months older than Service Pack 1 and Update 1 for Service Pack 1.

It can not be installed due to mismatched Inventor version or language?

Hi JDMather,

Like I already said, I can not install the latest update due to mismatched Inventor version or language. What should I do? How can I fix it?

Install Service Pack 1, then install Update 1 for SP1.

Installing service packs/updates won't help for this problem..

For those that don't have a rar extractor (PS.. download 7zip http://www.7-zip.org/ .. its not full of any adware) the OP is creating a design view rep in the part and doing a half section view then when placed into an assembly the design view rep is not showing the section view in the assembly..

I wouldn't be surprised if thats "as designed" or a "limitation" of design view reps/section views..

I'm quite sure that's a current limitation of View Reps.  Sections in model view reps are not carried over to drawing views that use those view reps.  I expect there are some good reasons for that limitation.

One that occurs to me is the difficulty in identifying the section source in a parent drawing view, since the parent view is not actually the source of the section, and that section source can be changed from outside the drawing.  But I can certainly see the benefit of being able to place (for instance) an isometric base view with the section defined by the model, and no need for a parent view with section definition.

There is an ongoing bug in View Reps 2016 that hasn't been resolved here: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-general-discussion/2016-view-reps-are-broken/m-p/6252447#M587...

Don't know if this is part of what you might be experiencing.

It seemed logical that it should be possible. I didn't know it is not possible. Maybe is this a good suggestion for a next version?

Colors/visibility states,etc.. are supported.. Section views are not..

Thats just how it works now..

As stated above you can create an ideastation request to see if this functionality can be added to future versions of Inventor.
