Using autocad dwg data into idw

I've done the opposite a million times; converting inventor data for use in a 2d autocad drawing, but now I'm trying it the other way around and I can't get it to work.

I've copied a 2D autocad drawing, pasted it into an .ipt file, and then placed that ipt file into a new assembly and changed its BOM structure to reference. Then dropped another inventor assembly into this and then made an idw. The intent is to to use the autocad portion as the building reference information in what would be a general arrangement drawing. The autocad portion will not show up. What am I missing? Do I need to edit the sketch and project all the dwg geometry (which seems rather counter productive!)

Expand the view in the idw model browser...expand the iam file.. right click on the ipt file under that view and check "get model sketches"

Not.. view must be perpendicular (looking at) the sketch plane for it to show up.. It won't show if its the "top" view of that sketch.. only the front view will show it..
