Inventor 2018

I have been trying a few steb by step again to solve my unsolvable thread/excel/ipart problem oby following this link instructions https://blogs.rand.com/support/2012/07/inventor-thread-command-and-threaded-holes-not-available.html and I found out that the "UseExcelToReadThreadFile" is not even there no mater how many time I uninstall and re-install. I honestly tried all the solution even chat with others while doing the following process and none worked

regedit step

CMD step

unistall/install

replacing the thread file

...

Can someone help me obtain the "UseExcelToReadThreadFile" REG file

Hi! The article you found is outdated, not applicable to Inventor 2018 any more. Are you having issues using Threaded Hole command without Excel? For 2018 and earlier, you may create an environment variable, "UseLibXL" and set it to 1 (Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Environment Variable).

Then Threaded Hole command should work without having Excel.exe installed.

Many thanks!

Thank you for your reply. The suggested solution does work but I am doing
automation modeling and without Excel I am facing limitations. So that will
not do for me. It is bizzar that the same license worked perfectly on my
other computer but not on this one.

Hi! I am very sorry that I am confused. You said it was working on one machine but not the other? Could you share the exact process (automated) you are using when "UseLibXL" is set to 1?

Many thanks!

What I mean is that on my previous computer, Inventor would connect to excel without problem. Now while using the same version and license, but on a different my new computer it doesn't work. The uselib solution that you suggest would work but I NEED to work with excel. I am paying for the software service and I want and need to be able to use it at 100% of its capacity. The uselib solution is not good enough when it comes to work with Ilogic to reference features and parts from library. I am use to do it through Excel and I am efficient that way.

Hi! It is clear to me now. I assume you have Excel installed on your machine. It needs to have Excel.exe or it will not work. If you do have Excel.exe installed, you should remove "UseLibXL", since it may block some workflows like iPart/iAssembly/Parameter Linking on 2018.

This looks like somehow your machine is blocking Inventor from launching Excel.exe. Please make sure you have admin privilege. You may need to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Office.

Many thanks!
