Can anyone shed some light on what is happening?

A coworker has emailed me files. I am trying to open but am getting unresolved reference.

File is attached:

Hi

Have you activated the project file so that Inventor finds all the links?

An assembly file is just a file of information about the relationships between geometry files. The iam file itself is worth nothing and has no utility.

Adding to what @kacper.suchomski wrote--

As with an actual physical assembly (a car, for instance), there is no assembly without the component parts.  An Inventor assembly file is like the instructions for putting a car together: there is nothing to see unless you have the parts.  So, Inventor is telling you that it can't find the part file 9HY-10-10-RO.ipt that is needed in order to "build" the assembly.  You'll need all the parts and perhaps also other assemblies (subassemblies) that are included in the assembly file that you've attached.

Hope that helps,

Sam B
