Unresolved Reference

Hi Community,

I have recently wanted to open an assembly file on Innovator Pro 2017. It comes up with the Unresolved Link dialog. So I have tried directing it to the parts, however when I click on the part in the dialog box, the box re springs and still shows up with the same part. HELP?? If I press Skip All, it just says they are all unresolved. I have put all the parts and assembly file in a project folder, doesn't help. The parts also have the same name.

I also sometimes get the "Unknown Facility" error when opening parts from the open tab in Inventor.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

@Anonymous Welcome to the forum.

this might happen if your network is disconnected or if the files are moved, delete or renamed.

Can you manually locate the files on disk? Can you open them individually in inventor?

If not find OldVersions folder and see if you can pull an older save out.

Hi Samuel,

Three possibilities that I am aware of. 1) The project setting does not include the path you are looking for. 2) The part you try to resolve to was saved in a later version of Inventor than the one you are running. 3) Use Unique File Name option in Project -> Options is set to No.

Could you check and see if any of above applies to you? If not, could you provide an example exhibiting the behavior?

Many thanks!

What do you have for an IPJ?

I can find them manually, however as I mentioned earlier it comes up with the Unknown Facility Error if I open it.

Could you teach me how to do these things? I'm still rather new to Inventor.

I'd use the tutorials / I would use the AU class / I would come to the forums ....

Hi Samuel,

Hi Samuel,

Four possibilities that I am aware of.

1) Is there an Inventor project ipj file associated to the dataset? If yes, please activate it. Close all files. Go to Getting Started tab -> Project -> Browse -> find the ipj file and activate it.

2) The project setting does not include the path you are looking for.

In the Project dialog, find the project you have activated -> Workspace. Is it set to the path where the part is located?

3) Use Unique File Name option in Project -> Options is set to No.

In the Project dialog, go to Options -> expand the options -> "Use Unique File Name." Is it set to No?

4) The part you try to resolve to was saved in a later version of Inventor than the one you are running.

Go to File Explorer and find the ipt file of interest. Right-click -> iProperties -> Detail. Was it last saved in an Inventor version newer than the one you have?

Could you check and see if any of above applies to you? If not, could you provide an example exhibiting the behavior?

Many thanks!

Thank you very much! I realised I didn't activate my IPJ. Thanks!

(And also my files were corrupted).
