Hello,
I have run into the dialog box that says resolve link and corrected that link. I haven't had a problem with correcting the link this way until now.
I have one small assembly going into another assembly.
PROBLEM:
When I open the second assembly it asks me to resolve the link for the inserted first assembly. My problem is that it corrects the link momentarily. I have corrected the link and save both files. Once I close them and reopen them the link is broken again. I have repeated this process several times and it's not corrected.
THINGS TRIED:
correcting link and saving
deleting the first assembly and replacing it with the same part hoping it would correct the link
repeating the "Resolve Link"
Sounds as if the first assembly is not in the project search paths of your active project. Each time you open the second assembly, Inventor looks around the active project, doesn't find the file, and alerts you.

HOW CAN YOU MAKE IT PART OF THE PROJECT SEARCH PATH OF AN ACTIVE PROJECT?
I AM ALWAYS GETTING POP UPS ABOUT PARTS NOT BEING IN ACTIVE PROJECT. I MUST BE SETTING THE PROJECT INCORRECTLY. IS THERE A LINK TO INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO?
There is only one active project at a time. Projects are set up in a .ipj file, and this specifies the Workspace (root folder for this particular project definition), libraries (other search locations that are treated as read-only), and some other important options. Since you didn't tell us what version of Inventor you are using, I can't be specific about some of the other options. All this is done through the Project Editor.
I don't have Inventor or Wikihelp open at the moment, so I can't give you specific links, but you should definitely learn about Inventor projects before you get any further. Projects can be a very powerful and useful tool for managing files & projects, and should completely eliminate those messages.
