Uninstall and then reinstall licence issues?

Hi

I was wondering whether I would encounter any licence issues if I uninstall Inventor 2017 and then reinstall it on the same computer? I have a student licence which can be installed on two computers. Would the reinstall count as another computer or would it recognize that it is the same computer (so I would still have one installation left)?

Thanks

If you have not changed any hardware (like HDD) it will pick up the original license automatically.

In any case, you will know when you re-install.

If it asks you to Activate  your license then it is going to count as a second install.

It will not automatically use up your second license - you would have to go through the Activation steps again.

If it doesn't request Activation - then it has picked up original license.

If you never had a successful install with an Activation (check http://manage.autodesk.com ) then you have not used up any of your licenses.

This it the most common situation I have seen with students.  They fail several times at install because they haven't followed @Mark.Lancaster instructions.

May I ask why you are uninstalling Inventor if its working?

Activation information is on the machine so if you uninstall and then install it again, it should see the same information.

Well that means you would wipe out your 1st activation and it will be activated again as your 2nd activation...  IF you run into activation issue you can contact the Educational Support Team here.

I used the Licence Transfer Utility to transfer the license to Autodesk and then I imported it again once I had installed Inventor after the clean install and it worked and I still have the second license available to use on another computer.

Thank you everyone for your help 🙂
