Unfolding accuracy of a complex part, deformed sheets (multi-axis bending)

Greetings forum members!
I would like to know your opinion.
In the version of the platform 2020, an operation was introduced - unfolding complex parts, deformed sheets (a bend is applied along several axes).
How accurate is the flat part of the complex part that was obtained with this operation? If you have experience, please share it! Perhaps the result of this operation has an accuracy of 95 percent, for example?
Thank you for your attention to my question!

This operation (in English) is called Unwrap.  It takes no account of material deformation, so its accuracy varies drastically, depending on the amount of deformation involved.

I suppose you could compare it to cartography- creating a map is always a compromise since the Earth is a 3D object.  But a city-scale map has very little deformation compared to the actual city being represented, while a global map has substantial deformation vs reality.  That's why there are so many different projections in use.

I don't know any of the math behind the Unwrap tool, but I expect that for a simple cylindrical bend it would be as accurate as the Sheet Metal Flat Pattern tool (assuming you choose the correct neutral axis, i.e. K-factor).  I expect for a deep drawn and convoluted part such as an oil pan, it will not be very accurate at all.

Thanks for your reply.
I'm looking at different ways to design the body of a motorboat.
In the beginning, I would like to create a model using planes and faces. Next, I would like to give them thickness. Next, I would like to apply the operation that you wrote about.
I understand that sheet metal part design can be used. However, I did so and did not succeed. Not all parts can be successfully designed with sheet metal in a short amount of time.

No, I'm not suggesting that you should use Sheet Metal for this.  You asked about the accuracy of the Unwrap tool, and I tried to explain that it takes no account of material deformation.  You would need a specialized tool, but I have never used such a thing and have no recommendations.
