Hello,
I have some parts published in the Content Center. I need to modify a dimension on some parts. I can edit the family table and modify it. The new dimensions are right. But if I open an assembly which use older versions of the modified parts, when I try to update the Content Center parts, Inventor says all standard parts are up to date. When I insert the modified from the CC, I obtain the old version.
I don't have local versions of the part.
If I insert the part with option "Update standard parts when insert", I have the old version too.
I have already made these modification on other parts with no problem, what is wrong with this part ?
I use Inventor 2010 SP4.
Have you tried 'Replace All' with the 'Refresh out of date standard parts during placement' enabled?
Yes, this option is on. I tried to replace the component or to modify the size, to insert it as standard or custom part. For other parts therre is no problem. I tried too to delete all local files.
So you tried the 'replace all'? Therefore if you deleted all occurrences and replaced it it still wouldn't update?
Exactly ! If I insert a new part with the option 'Refresh out of date standard parts during placement' enabled, the part is not modified. If I launch manual update : Ribbon : Manage, Content center : Update, Inventor say all standard parts are up to date .
stupid question I guess but have you closed and reopened the assembly? For example if you go to iProperties or something like that it should say the file has been updated outside this session. When you close and reopen the assembly your parts should update.
This happened to me when I first made the change, next time it just said 'published successfully to the selected library', then when I tried to update the standard content I just had to save the assembly then it prompted me to refresh and all worked fine.
Have you definitely placed as standard not as custom? Are you changing the correct library? It is kind of hard to debug without seeing the files and workflow. As far as I know there were not any unaddressed issues with this in 2010. I can only test on 2012 atm so can't be of any more help (if any).
Here is the complete procedure I use :
I delete all local CC parts.
Open from CC : wrong part
New iam, place from CC as standard part : wrong part
In the same iam, place from CC as custom part : right part !!
In the same iam, on the right part (custom part) : modify size : ok, I return to the original size : ok
On the wrong part (standard part) : modify size : ok, I return to the original size : wrong part !
If I check from the CC editor, the part is effectively modified. I also see the same values from other stations (there was a bug for this : hot fix solved it).
Replace all from CC : the 2 parts are wrong.
Save the iam, close, open, update standard parts : nothing need to update...
Insert the part from CC as custom : right part.
Insert the part from CC as standard : wrong part
I have only 1 custom library, so I am sure to modify the library I use. The part exist only in the custom library.
I am CC administrator + editor, so I can modify whatever I want in the CC.
Do you think I should contact an exorcist ?
If I open the part as standard, it is not up to date (I obtain the old version, befor CC modifications). But if I open it as Custom part it is ok ! If I rename the folder family from the CC editor, it functions too. So I think there is a cache wich contains the old version...
I found this : C:\Users\>user name>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Inventor 2010\Content Center\CMCache. I renamed it, try to insert the part from CC --> "Unbale to create a component". Go back to the original name, restart Inventor and it's ok : now when I insert the part from the CC it is automatically updated with new values.
I don't know exactly why, if someone could clarify this it could be helpful !
