Unable to make all components appear as solids in ipn

Using IV 2016

Some components are transparent in ipn.  For those components, I've set to All Bodies and As Parts, with no benefit.

Thanks for helping.

Can you post a screen capture of what you are seeing. You can use the "Windows Snipping Tool". Include the model browser window so we can see the component list.

Are they solid components, or are they surface only models?

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file

I attached a pdf that shows two components with outlined edges only.  They should be colored green like the others.

Hi! I think the pdf was exported from an Inventor drawing dwg/idw referencing an ipn file, right? If yes, I think the two components of interest carry "Reference" BOM attribute. It means they are not counted in the BOM table and PartsList. You can still display them as regular parts. Edit the shaded drawing view and go to Model State -> Reference Data -> change Line Style to As Parts.

Many thanks!

Something like this and use the "Photos" icon to insert the picture rather than attaching a file.

thanks,

You are correct re idw referencing an ipn.

I don't fully understand "reference" parts.  I know what they are and why they are used, but I'm not sure how to change a part from reference to otherwise.

The two components that appear to be reference should not be.  They should have the same status as the other components.

How is a picture of a component created?

In the assembly, select the two components, then right click and select BOM Structure > Default (Reference is currently checked, I assume)

Reference - Default.png

You can also change this setting in the BOM Manager, assuming the BOM Structure column is visible.

@Wdwrkrs

I might also suggest that you review this article (https://synergiscadblog.com/2015/02/06/inventor-bill-of-materials-structures/) on the different types of Inventor BOM structures.

SBix26: That was it!  Reference was checked.  Changed it and now all appears correctly.

Mark.Lancaster: Thanks for the link.  Excellent article.  I am now better informed.

Thank you both for the assistance
