Unable to extrude closed loop sketch

I am unable to extrude a closed loop sketch that I created. I used the sketch doctor and no issues were found (e.g. it's a closed loop with no self-intersections).

I've used inventor a decent amount (intermediate level), so I'm very surprised this has been giving me so much trouble.

Also it's worth noting that when I go to extrude, it will not let me select the "green area" it only lets me select the shape outline.

If you're interested in extruding the area into a solid, make sure you toggle Surface Mode OFF (yours seemed ON like below):

Please attach your part. I would guess that there is something going on at the sharp point of the profile, or maybe you have a double line somewhere.

The direction of the extrusion arrow in Capture.PNG is looking strange.

As @WHolzwarth notes the arrow is not in correct location.

Try starting a new sketch and then Project Geometry the original sketch.

Does the new sketch Extrude?

Can you Attach the *.ipt file here?
