Unable to close or save file

Hi everyone,

We have a problem here where sometimes, a file becomes "unable to close or save". The file can be of any type (IDW, IPT, IAM, etc). Following actions don't work:
- the "X" to close the file in the top right corner;
- the "Close" command in the File menu;
- the "Save" command in the File menu;
- the "Save Copy As" command in the File menu;
- the "Close All" command in the File menu;
- sometimes, the "X" to close IV in the top right corner.

We can do anything we want with any other files but the weird file can't close, save or save as.

Since my posting, I had to "End task" IV in order to close the "weird file".
The new file with a weird behavior now can't just Save or SaveCopyAs.
In fact now, I can't SaveCopyAs any file.
I'll have to "End task" IV again.

IV 11 Pro, SP2

HELP!

How about some system specs? When was the last time you cleaned out all
the temp files and emptied the recycle bin? How much free hard drive
space? Have you checked Task Manager to see if you have multiple
sessions of Inventor running? Have you added any programs, updates,
etc.? Has anyone done a IV install or repair without disabling the
virus protection?

Thanks for your help, here are the specs:

- we have brand new computers since this week but the problem was present before the change;
- more than 60Go free hard drive space
- only 1 Inventor in Task Manager
- the problem doesn't seems to be associated to a specific file
- we are now working onto a VBA project
- virus protection is not local

If you did not disable the virus protection on installation, that may
very well be your problem. Local or network, the virus protection must
be disabled to allow IV to install and register properly. You may have
to get your IT people to help out on this issue.

The IT guy did the installation. The problem was there before new computers arrival.

Is it just one computer or all of them that behave this way?

I would still tend to look at the virus protection issue on
installation. Since someone else is doing the install, I would watch
and make sure the virus protection was disabled during install.

The only other time we have ever had problems saving files was because
of problems in the network.

Were you able to save the file at least once?
I just had network problems for the past ten minutes and experienced the behavior you describe. Once the network problem was cleared up I was back in business.
Are you on a network environment?
Do others experience problems at the same time?

We are 2 users having this problem. I just re-installed IV on my computer with all virus protection disabled. I'll try to reproduce the problem in the next days.

I would personnaly discard network issue since I was able to do what I want with any other file.

Thanks,

I was not able to save the file at least one time. As I wrote a few minutes ago, I don't think it's a network problem. We are working with a network but the problem is intermittent. We are not experiencing this problem at the same time.
