I'm doing inventor at college and I'm half way through one of the tutorials which I saved to carry on at home but when I loaded it on to my computer the instruction panel on the right hand side isn't there so I've got nothing to follow.

Could you give me a little more information.  What version of Inventor are you running?  Are you going through the Learning Path tutorials or are you selecting the Tutorials button next to the learning path?

There is no real way to save a tutorial from the Learning Path.  Try going to the tutorial you were working on and select the last step you were on.  You should see the part or assembly come up that is needed to complete that step.  Please let me know if this is not the case.

yeah "sounds" like you just opened the part (or assembly) that you were working on but didn't start the learning path to continue on with the tutorial..

So you just have the part open but aren't actually doing the tutorial..
