Didnt know the best way to title it but is there a way to turn off inventor grabbing the lines behind an object? Like saying im looking to constrain and flat surface on one side but the other side has a bunch of stuff going on. Im constantly grabbing lines instead of a surface area. Is there a setting to this this option off when i need to?
Can you Attach a simple example file?
I think I understand the problem description, and there is not a method other than hiding bodies.
Yeah i dont know so much a file but let me try a screen shot of what happens. So say im trying to add a constraint and i go to click the back of this piece. Instead of it just grabbing the surface area, it tried to grab the lines beyond. I noticed if i zoom in far enough it grabs the area. The one that really gets annoying is with sketches. I do a lot of panel designs and such but its always grabbing the lines beyond when just trying to sketch on the flat surface. Im guessing maybe some projection toggle?
Did you change your selection filter? Is it set to Component priority?
Probably not haha. Didnt even realize that was up there. Thanks! This was the cause!
Was quick to jump on that but nah it still does the the same thing. I selected a few different ones and i still get me sketch lines beyond the face selecting.
If you wait a second or two, does the Select Other list pop up by your cursor? If so you can scroll through the list of what's "behind" the cursor until you get the thing you want to pick. Changing your view angle can be really helpful, too, and for that a 3D motion controller (Spacemouse) is very useful.
Note that the wait time for the Select Other list to pop up is controlled by this option:
