Tube and pipe - iAssembly

I'm trying to make iAssembly of my hydraulics to exclude some runs. It seems like the iAssembly has to be created in the main assembly but then the exclude option for runs is not available. Is it a good idea to keep iAssembly member files adaptive and delete runs in members?

I don't think there is an easy workaround, maybe LOD will help a little bit but not pretty sure.

Hello.... sorry, I don't have any ideas on this.  I've never worked with iAssemblies in Tube & Pipe.  All of our piping is unique to each job.  Any thoughts on this @salariua?

this is working out of the box but you need to change your expectations and adapt your workflow.

 

I've done it before but instead of creating a iAssembly of the Tube and Pipe you create one for the master assembly, the one where Tube and Pipe is placed (where you first click the Tube and Pipe button).

Ok, thank you. That is better than nothing.

 

It doesn't seem possible to delete runs in other configuration without making it adaptive. After it's adaptive new routes in the main run won't add to this configuration. Probably the easiest way for adding new routes for both configuration is just to delete the table and make a new one and then delete runs for other configuration.

I must admit that it's been a while back when I did all this so test them out yourself

you can create Design View Representations and Level of Details for TP assembly.

 

While I don't know you application and desired end results, I can suggest you try LOD and View Reps to create configurations of same TP assembly.

 

This is also beneficiary and helps documenting individual runs on drawings. Remember that now we can created Parts List filters from "Design View Representation" and you get proper quantity as well.

 

That might be more appropriate than iAssemblies.

 

Have a read on >>this<< if you have time. I covered a bit of everything there but back then in 2015 we didn't had the option to match Parts List quantity to Visible only, so quantity was shown for the whole TP assembly.


The second part where I describe creating iAssembly for a single run is so that we can get correct quantity on the drawing and while it's not necessary anymore there is still some good info regarding iAssemblyes for TP.
