Hello everyone!

I would like to thank all the help that I have been receiving here in this Forum, I have already learned a lot and I am evolving quickly.
However, I am facing a problem that I do not believe to be something very difficult, but I am already 3 days trying to solve it in a less complicated way.
See the image below, I apologize for not translating from Portuguese to English, but I really don't know what the correct terminology would be in your language, I hope that only visually you can understand my drawing.

Well, what I'm doing is inserting the gasket with great difficulty, then the "pestana", flange, screws and finally the tube ... but I do it in a generic way ... I would like to know how I proceed using PipeRun, because I believe there must be an easier method, and this assembly should be part of my general pipe ... right? .... How should I proceed
I didn't find this "pestana" in the Content Center, so I created one, although I don't know which category to put it in, and I ended up putting it in "others", when authoring it.

Hello again!  I think I speak for all of us when I say that we are happy to help.  We've all been right where you are in learning tube & pipe, and for me it was these forums that got me through it.  On to your question!

 

I believe the pestana part is the same (in English) as a "stub end".  These are very tricky to work with in Tube & Pipe.  I did find a solution several years back for authoring them, but I have to be honest when I say that it does not always work as expected.  Using these parts authored this way, you would start with (probably) the gasket.  Here is what I would do, using the example of starting my pipe run at the nozzle of a tank.  You could start whereever it makes most sense for your design.

Start a new pipe run, and place a gasket using the "connect" option, and connect it to the nozzle of the tank. (did you know that you can author tank and pump and heat exchanger nozzles, to make it easier to connect fittings to them?)  With the gasket placed, I would then place the pestana (stub end), also using connect, to connect it to the gasket.  Then place the flange and connect to the pestana.... this is the tricky part since you have to make very certain that you get the correct connection point... sometimes it helps to zoom in really close.  This will make more sense after you have read the article about authoring the stub end.  Once you have the flange on the pestana,.... you can begin your first pipe route from the outlet of the pestana, and go from there.

I appreciate the words of encouragement, they are really helping me a lot.


I took a brief look at the link you sent me, and I will look more closely later. I noticed that at the bottom of the page there is a video that has a broken link ... it is a pity.
Your explanatory videos have been of great help, I hope you make another video explaining this process, in case you have time for this.
I will try to solve this first step, as you suggested to me, but the screws still need to be resolved later, as he does not recognize the holes ...
Note: I am creating the flange, and the tab, maybe I was wrong in the process, because it is giving several errors, but

 

I must emphasize that your help in other posts, allowed me to create a large library that is helping me a lot ....

@alexandrelongo  I did notice the broken link.  I looked for the video on my YouTube, and it's gone from there.  I must have deleted it by mistake.  If I can find some time to recreate it (or locate a backup) I will fix the link.  I'm sorry about that, the article is pretty old.

You helped me a lot, and after I read your article, everything became clearer ... and it was easy to solve .... see figure below

But now I arrived at the part where I put the Screws, Nuts and Washers ..... how should I proceed ?, because this part is being very complicated .... Remembering that I would like all this to be inside a single assembly of PIPERUN, as we had discussed previously

For the fasteners, I always used the Bolted Connections.  If you need to use studs instead of bolts.... I have an article about that as well.  😉

Hello @CGBenner !!!

 

Did you mention that you could make equipment nozzles to facilitate connections with the equipment? ... (at least that's what I understood ...) How would you do that?
I would like it to appear in my spool, some reference of the equipment that is being connected ... (I hope you understand me ..: /) .. is it possible?

 

Note: Remember, I'm starting from the beginning, where the piperun is an assembly, and the equipment is another assembly ... and I understand that there is no way to insert two assemblies, (where I can define which ones) ... and generate a spool on a single sheet ... right?

To author equipment such as tanks, pumps, heat exchangers etc... just open the model of the part which contains the nozzles.  This cannot be done on an assembly, so if your equipment is an assembly, open the individual part that has the nozzle you want to author.  Once it is open, use the same authoring tool that you would use for fittings.  Select "Other" as the type, then increase or decrease the number of connections as needed (on the top of the authoring window).  Then for each connection, it would be the same method as a fitting: select the end treatment and size etc.

You do not need to publish these to your Content Center, but you can if you wish.... I never did because it was easier to work with them outside of Content Center in case I needed to make one custom.

Your next question looks like it is about assembly structure?  Here is how I bult mine, but there are different opinions.  The "correct" way is whatever works best for you and your company.

I built all of my assemblies "bottom up" because that is how they were built on the shop floor. So, I built the frame assembly first, even if it was not yet complete.  It might be nothing more than a box to define the overall size.  Then, I created a new assembly for the "Equipment layout", and the first item inserted here is the frame.  Then I assembled to the frame all of the tanks, pumps and other major equipment etc.  Then, I created another new assembly for the top level of the whole system, and inserted the equipment layout assembly as the first component.  From there, I entered the Tube & Pipe environment and started building the pipe runs onto the equipment.  Structure looked something like this:

Thank you very much for your explanation of how you create your way of working .... it helped me in future issues ..... however I am attaching an image, which perhaps illustrates my doubt better .... I have the ability to insert two assemblies in a single Format A3? ....
