Trouble with draft

I need to add 2 degrees draft to the vertical walls of the top cylinder on this insert. When I try I get a weird curved surface.

We want the draft to come from the angled diameter so when it is molded the hole looks like a circle.

Can anyone help?

Thank you.

The size of that file is rather astonishing?

I think I would remodel from scratch.

The attached file is a bit smaller size.

I tried rebuilding it but ended up with the same thing. I referenced the angled surfaces from the original file.

It looks like you have discovered a defect with our draft tool.  I will be logging this and seeing what our development team can do to fix this issue.

Thanks,

That's great but can anyone think of a way around it so I can get this job done?

I am having trouble determining your design intent.

Can you do a hand sketch and attach it here.

I am sure there is a way (with Revolve or Loft), but I am not sure what you want.

I just figured it out as the last message came in. Loft was the correct answer. I split the bottom angled face with the larger diameter and used loft to connect the two. Add in my chamfer and I'm done. Thanks for the brain push.

Hi Randy - thanks for reporting the 'weird curved surface', we worked out that the problem is in the graphics and we're trying to fix it (for reference this is logged as ASM-4147).

This means that the surface is actually fine but it just looks a bit weird as .ipt - if you create a drawing view everything looks ok:

Hope this helps to clear up some of the confusion..!
