Trouble Filleting Bosses on Angled Surfaces in Inventor

Hey everyone,

I recently switched from SolidWorks to Inventor, so I’m still getting used to how things work here. I’ve run into a problem I can’t figure out.

I’m trying to fillet some bosses that sit on angled flat surfaces, but it’s not working. Inventor seems to have an issue when a boss is placed where two angled faces meet—it just won’t let me fillet it. I’ve attached a picture to show what I mean.

If I try a face fillet between the two surfaces, the result looks weird. And if I use the regular fillet tool, it only works if I make the radius small enough that it doesn’t touch the nearby face.

Is there a faster or easier way to do this, or do I really have to build each fillet manually?

Thanks!

Hi!

Well.... somehow i can understand why this fillet can be tricky to solve.

Anyway, Sometimes we have to help the software to compute a tricky situation.
Try this:

  1. Create an extra fillet,
  2. Create the fillet you need
  3. Eliminate the extra fillet

Note: probably you have to play with the extra fillet size...

Do you get a better result if edit the fillet in the file attached, then go to advanced properties and check the box "Roll along sharp edges".

Thanks for the replies, I tinkered with both your solutions and got something acceptable.... But not ideal though.
