The title block in my drawnig won't update, nor allow me to change manually.

I replaced the refernce model from another drawing, but I have done this before without nay complications.

How can I force this to change?

Can you share the IDW ..

Are you pulling the properties from the Model instead of the Drawing?

We can't tell here they are being populated from ... we know you have a pop up box that you populate ....but that's it

I am pulling them from a model, but the document iproperties are correct there. Everything seems correct.

I had an issue with this the other day because I was using tables, and the information was being pulled from one of the parts. I managed to sort it by changing the part name, but this still didn't answer my concern:

Where does this information come from, and how can I interact/rectify with it?

Well if you have the pop up in your idw, you'll want to pull it from there.  however you can pull it from the ipt/iam as well .... I only made the comment because of the pop up in the idw

I'm opening the idw now

Have you tried closing down Inventor and opening it back up?

I didn't have a problem

are you looking at your iproperties?

I was able to fill it right from the iproperties ...that's where they are all located

The "title" field is set to grab the custom iproperty named "title" from the drawing.. That field is empty in your drawing.. So naturally its empty..

Ok, that is a start. If I get stuck I can manually change it. Thanks.

However, will this effect further changes if they are made? Why is the <TITLE> not pulling a value from the model in the first place?

You can set it up to pull it all from the same spots ...

Question is how far do you want to go?  Also can you attach the part or a blank Ipt file of yours to show you

Mine is back populating the field box

backfeed.PNG

you can make a prompted entry that will propulate it .... again it's all about how you want to set it up

also as @mcgyvr pointed out you're pulling it from custom not Model

your title block should look like this  if you want it to be from the part

Have you read through this first (see attached)?  There are some tips here that will probably help you.

Off the top of my head, I think you should...

Not use Prompted Entries (especially if Vault is in your future)

Use an iLogic Form to fill out your Custom iProperties

Consider having model iProperties populate your drawing border as well as copying themselves to your drawing iProperties (especially if Vault is in your future).

Do we assume thats on the drawing from mdavis?

If so.. it doesn't matter..

The point is that your template is simply not setup as you think it should be.. So fix it..

Is there any way to trigger this 'retrieval of metadata' again?

Yes, I have fixed the issue. Thanks for your help. Does anyone know why the 'title' area was actually blank, or is this just one of those things?

Your answers have been very helpful. Thank-you.

It is not normally blank when I do this. Is there any actual reason why this data was not collected?
