How can I get the preview to work for these files.  I'm trying to use the FTC parts files and with no preview - it's viritually impossible to find the right part?  What am I doing wrong?   thank you

Hi & welcome,

I suspect you aren't doing anything wrong. It's posible to save part files without a thumbnail, which looks like what has happened in this case. Would you be able to upload one of the part files, just to confirm it isn't something odd about your setup?

Thanks

Thanks, I do see the same as you. There is no thumbnail saved in the part-file hence why there is no preview.

If you re-save as a new part file, you will see a preview with the new file because the default is to save a thumbnail with the file (see below).

Of-course doing that manually isn't an option. It's possible, i think, to automate the re-saving of new part files in some way. For instance one way would be to put together a simple plug-in. I recently did something similar in this post:

There maybe other easier ways to do the same thing, but can't think of one off the top of my head.

Hope it helps,

Thanks

Thank you - Yes - I had figured out this morning that re-saving will create
a preview image.

I have not yet figured out how to do it via batch style. I even tried
opening all files at once and then saving all - and it would not do it. It
appears you actually have to make a change to the file to trigger the
system to save and create the preview. Just opening and saving without
changing anything does nothing.

I am going through the parts one by one and resaving. It's a little
tedious but it's working.

Thanks again.

Hi,

Was just trying something out, which might save you a lot of time (if not now maybe next time). Have a look at the video below:
