  • What are the required system setup and prerequisites for Autodesk Inventor Nesting to work correctly?

  • Are there any special installation or configuration steps needed for the Nesting module?

  • What are the common reasons for the Nesting module to crash or fail to run?

  • Are there any known issues or compatibility problems with the current Inventor version?

  • Does Autodesk Inventor Nesting work properly with Vault Basic?

  • Is the Nesting module compatible with a cloud-based directory or server setup?

  • Are there any specific settings or best practices when using Nesting together with Vault Basic and cloud storage?

  • What logs or error reports should we provide to help troubleshoot this issue?

  • Is there any official guide or training material for first-time users of the Nesting module?

  • What is the recommended solution to fix this issue (update, patch, reinstall, or configuration change)?

Hello,
Thank you for reporting this issue. Have you already created a ticket to Inventor support team regarding it?
Is it happening only with this one file or with all nesting files?  Are you able to share this file with me? (via private Autodesk folder, no need to share files with everybody).
Sharing file would be required to find a rootcause and a workaround, I need to reproduce this issue on my site to be able to help you.
Generally, nesting should work correctly immediately after installation; there are no additional requirements necessary for proper operation. We strive to minimize such issues, and every report is very important to us because it allows us to improve nesting.

If there is anything else that I can help you with please let me know,
regards,
Monika

Hi -

Thanks for the report. I can see the crash report you submitted. Unfortunately, it doesn't give very much to go on. Can you provide a sample model that we can test this with? Ideally, it would have all of the "don't include" properties set, so that we can just create a new nest with the assembly as modified.

We wouldn't expect any significant impact of using Vault Basic with Inventor Nesting. At the end of the day, you have model files locally available.

Thank you,

  Jeff

After investigation, the root cause was identified as an incorrect Inest template stored on the Cloud Server.
Once the Inest template was replaced, the Nesting module was able to launch and run Nesting without any crashes.
The issue has now been resolved internally.
