Template Problems with Frame Generator since using trial

Hi,

I'm using Inventor 2013.  This works well for me.

I recently ran a months trial of Inventor 2020 & since it has expired, the frame generator in 2013 no longer works.

When I try to insert a member into a weldment I get the following error:

"A frame member could not be created. The template file for ANSI ANSI AISC (square) - Tube Could not be located in the Content Center Library.

template errortemplate error

Any Ideas on how / where to get templates from??

It because you are running Inventor 2020 under Win 10 1903 or newer.  However since you are a trial version you are not entitled to the updates that resolve the issue.

In addition are you using the trial version to do production work?

We have 2 licences of Inventor 2013. We looked at Inventor 2020 and advanced steel to see if they would help reduce drawing / modelling time. We didn't see any significant value in either product and wont be buying either. I installed the trial verisons on the same machine that I am running Inventor 2013 & the 2013 content center files appear to have been overwritten by the 2020 versions.

Frame generator is a core function, so I need to get it operational again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Oh ok.  Now I understand..

However Inventor 2013 and Inventor 2020 have separate content center file and do interact with each other.

Are you running Win 10 1903 version and newer?

The 1903 version and newer have broken content center for all versions of Inventor.  In addition Inventor 2013 is not supported under Win 10 and if you are on Win 10, you took a risk in doing so.   There's nothing that you can do since Inventor 2013 is no longer support and the fixes out there are only for Inventor 2017-2020.

Hi Mark,

I am using windows 10 1909.

I never had any issues with frame generator although placing a component from the content center would cause the system to crash repeatedly.

Inventor 2013 fulfills all my engineering needs and I am happy with product as a whole.

I do feel Autodesk didn't provide adequate warning of the potential negative effects of installing a trial version.

Perhaps this post will save any other customers from making a similar catastrophic mistake!

It has nothing to do with installing the trial version of Inventor 2020.

Its related to Windows and you running an Inventor version under an unsupported operating system.   But like I said this Win 10 1903 version and newer has broken all Inventor versions up to Inventor 2020.

Also I just realized something..

My earlier statement "However Inventor 2013 and Inventor 2020 have separate content center file and do interact with each other."

Should've read "However Inventor 2013 and Inventor 2020 have separate content center file and do not interact with each other."

Sorry for the confusion..

I don't agree. All issues with frame generator occurred directly after installing inventor 2020.

Frame generator worked fine in the inventor 2020 trial , but somehow the templates for the steel profiles used by both versions seem to have become mixed up.

If I had advance warning from Autodesk, I would never have gone near the trial versions.
