Template defaults

I seem to have perverted my inventor templates. so now when i create an in place component there are no part templates. how can i restore the default templates. inv 2020 pro.templates.png

In your active project file under Folder Options..   Does the template section state default or something else?

In Tools/Application Options/File tab where is your templates being pointed to?   Is there anything in that location?

For 2020 a new sub-folder related to your language was added for templates.   So your public document templates are now located one folder deeper.  If you look at our image you will see the en-us folder where your templates are now located.
