Technical Illustration with Opacity

Hello everyone, I have a question. How can I change the opacity in Technical Illustration? It seems that opacity doesn't function properly in Technical Illustration mode, but when I switch to Realistic mode, opacity works fine. I'd like to be able to adjust opacity in Technical Illustration mode. Any suggestions?

Transparency goes against this style.
