Task Scheduler stuck preprocessing

I have been using taskscheduler happily in 2019 and in 2020 for quite a while and suddenly it gets stuck preprocessing. I have left it running for several hours and nothing happens. This is the same if i am trying to print or update design or export and for just a single file.

Any ideasa?

Thanks

Are you sure it's not just processing?

Does Task Manager show it using any memory?

Have you tried running a very simple, small file through it? Something like a blank drawing file, etc?

Does it still hang?

When was last time you shut the system down for more than 10 minutes?

If you are able I would suggest using "End Process Tree" from the windows Task Manager, (Details tab) to kill the TaskScheduler.exe process. Also check that there are no Inventor.exe processes running.

Then restart Task Scheduler & first go to the File dropdown & use "Compact Database". Then delete any/all tasks which are no longer required. Then try to restart or recreate the task in question.

Hope this helps,

Chris

Hi Guys,

The behavior sounds similar to a known defect INVGEN-31569. The latest status shows a fix has been identified for the internal build targeting 2020.3 update.

Many thanks!

Thanks for the replies.

The pc has been shut down overnight several times and still no joy.

Task manager is showing memory and CPU usage but doesnt even print a sinlge blank drawing when left for hours.

Was previously processing hundreds in a couple of minutes.

I have tried the shutting down in task manager and crearing databse but no change.

Looks like 2020.3 might be my only hope.

Thanks for your help.

If you rename the TaskScheduler.mdb file in "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2019\Task Scheduler" and then download/extract and replace it with the attached file, do you see any improvement?

Thanks,

Chris

Sorted! Fantastic thanks. It was the very first fix for databases.

Hello.
I'm currently experiencing the same issue. After restarting of Task Manager, the "Preprocessing" in "Status" columns is replaced with "Unknown Exception". I'm using Win 10 and Office 365 latest build. However my colleague, with same configuration of HW and SW, has no troubles with Task Manager. When we could expect 2020.3 to be able for use?
Thanks a lot.

With Kind regards,

Martin.
