Surface visibility on .dwg how to turn them off?

Hi there,

When creating a 2D drawing sometimes ( not all the times ) surfaces are visible on the 2D drawing. What can I do to make them invisible on the drawing?

I added a screen cast to show what I mean.

Hello Jef E!

Have you considered suppressing the surface feature instead of using visibility?  .dwg ignores the suppressed items.

Hope this helps,

Kenny

I see that it is an assembly in your video, not a part.  Have you considered making the surface a Reference part instead?  Then in your drawing you can choose in your drawing view to hide Reference parts, show them as phantom lines or show them as solid lines.

Hope this helps,

Kenny

Hi,

Can you try the following.

1. Open your part file.
2. Expand the view representation in the browser.
3. Create a new view rep (say "AllSurfaces").
4. Click on Surface Bodies folder and turn them off.
5. Switch to drawings.
6. Edit the view and select the viewrep (AllSurfacesOff).

The view should update and all surfaces should become invisible.

Hi! In theory, the behavior should be driven by design view (default or associative). The video shows a design view out-of-sync behavior. In the default design view in the assembly, the surface body is invisible, while drawing thinks it should be visible. We have addressed defects in this area in later releases. I am not positive if the fixes are available in 2014. If you can post the files here or send them to me, I can check it for sure.

In the meantime, you could select the surface body in the browser or in the drawing view -> uncheck Visible.

Many thanks!

I can do this check myself at my other machine. When making the surface body invisible in the browser I need to uncheck the associative link and that is not what I intend to do Smiley Happy
