Hi

using this tutorial I learned how to subtract one solid from another on assembly environment, I wonder if anyone have a creative way to do this with pattern,  the shelves in the image should be in different heights  that ill have the exact dimension to cut the hole in them . (6 shelves total)

Thanks!

This might not be the best example, but i'd probably build it as a multibody part and then push out the individual parts to an assembly.

Here's a similar sample using iCopy, origin from Autodesk. It seems to be no more present for download.

Very interesting video about iCopy from admaiora is here:

Video is unavailable.. anyway not sure where to start with icopy?? haven't  found any good tutor for dummies.

icopy means i will use a sketch (as an assembly) , as sub-assembly in case sizes differ from one another through a specified path. how do i start consider the only that change is the holes in the shelf, and not shelf sizes?

Thanks

Video from admaiora could be started right now here.

You can find the above mentioned sample here:

201x= Any Inventor release since 2011

I'm not sure icopy can do this, as the hole is a feature being subtracted..

any new ideas?

Hi Alexrose1942,

Attached is a simple example file created in Inventor 2015 for you to look at. You can use this file to explore the Make Components tool, which allows you to "write out" all of the solids as derived parts and it places them into an assembly. Then you can make updates to this original part file and it will update all of the parts and the assembly.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
