Hi there,

here is what I am experiencing with my standard templates when I switch to anything other than "standard".

I keep updating the style in my templates, and this keeps showing up!!!!

any idea how to resolve this?

Happy New Year to you, too @3DAli Smiley Happy

Indeed this is not good news. Can you please tell me which update you ran? Can you roll it back?

And you get the same messages? Do you switch projects? Does it happen in all your Inventor projects?

I am so sorry that you run into this again. But if this behavior is reproducible we have to figure out what triggers it.

Thanks

Hi Sophia,

as far as the update goes, its Build:233,Release: 2017.3 Update - Date : Mon 10/31/2016

in terms of inventor projects, I am using vault, so I only have one project that manages the entire work-space with unique file naming system pushed through vault.

this is puzzling me as well and I totally understand your point to reproduce it and diagnose it from there, but I just dont know how. I can give you a clue and it might help Autodesk team with identifying where the issue is coming from,

if I open my standard(mm).ipt , go to document settings, change units back to "in" and "lb" from "mm" and "kg", save the file and close it, the error message disappears, so whatever it is, units causes that "default modelling" mismatch in style. as soon as I change the units back to metric, it pops up. to be honest with you I cant think of anything else that I have done after we fixed the issue and I also contacted our re seller and let them know.

Having said that, the product is running fine otherwise, I can shut the message up for the session and it wont bug me anymore, but I just wanted to contribute to a have a better , more reliable problem free product in future versions.

Sincerely

Ali

Hi @3DAli,

do you use multiple language on your machine or Inventor? There might be a connection. I am on to something, but I need to verify.

And all communication inside Inventor is with Latin characters?

Did this issue ever get solved? It is marked as solved, but I don't see a solution.

I agree; I've been having this issue for years with Inventor, to the point where I feel I'm going crazy. Open the part template, save the styles, save the part template, open a part, get the exact message again. Time and time again.

Absolute crap!!!

No Paul , still the same in 2019 ! I gave up on it , I just use my standard temp. and I change the units manually!

this is a fresh installation on a fresh computer on Windows 10, so its definitely a flaw in the software and has nothing to do with my copy.

It's comforting to know I'm not the only one who has endured the pain Ali. Smiley Sad

Reckon I've gone through that process at least a couple of hundred times.

New install on new laptop myself, hence why I asked the question.

May go and find a small padded cell right now then...

Hi Guys,

The warning dialog indicates that the some styles stored in the Standard (mm).ipt are different than the same named definitions in Styles Library. Have you shared the template you are using here? If not, please share.

Many thanks!

I will tell you that I reported this back 2 years ago while assisting a user..  At that time it was thought the issue was related to the templates being located on the user's network and not in the default/standard location.  However we never found a solution and the user redid their Inventor installation since they were switching to a new machine and the issue never returned for them.

Thanks Mark, well this might be helpful since I am using a different folder for my template as well. I will try to copy them over to the default location and see what happens, if this fixes it , then we now the reason at least!

I would rather pull teeth than do a fresh Inventor installation.

If every solution to a problem is to do a fresh installation, clearly the product is not up to scratch.

By the way; I tried putting the template back in the default location, pointed the project back to default location, went through the whole update rigmarole once again, opened a new part, same same...
