Hi there,

here is what I am experiencing with my standard templates when I switch to anything other than "standard".

I keep updating the style in my templates, and this keeps showing up!!!!

any idea how to resolve this?

Hm...., I do not get this message and I can update. After that, the template works fine.

@mcgyvr you could not update, too?

@Mark.Lancaster have you tried?

My installation is Inventor 2017.3, Win7. What differences do we have?

You might consider to reset Inventor.

Regards

Nope - just the warehouse style message.

@Sofia.Xanthopoulou I'm 2017.3 Windows 10..

Screencast..

Personally I think there is a nasty bug that has been around since 2013 related to this.. (and those that aren't using the out of the box default autodesk material/appearance libraries)

Notice also that after I create a new file from that template and then go to the update again that a "Color" style is also showing up...

That "color" style was NOT there when I had the template itself opened and did the update.. (BUT.. It would show when I changed "compare materials" to use my appearance library vs my material library)..

I've had this problem for years with colors/materials getting STUCK in my files and I cannot delete them even though they are not used.. But I don't want to take away from 3DAli here so I may continue that issue in another post..

Hi Sofia,

yes I do, but that is not the cause, that gets updated correctly, the default modeling standard is the one causing issue.

Well.. we didn't see the part where you opened the original file from Ali and updated the template and then created a new part and had that message go away..

What I showed in my video was me actually using the file YOU posted.. Which as you can see when I opened it and did an update the style default(modeling) needed to be updated and so I did and then created a new part from that and it still complained about that style needing to be updated..

SO... Now maybe someone from Autodesk needs to dig deeper and tell us why this is happening..  There is a bug/issue somewhere..  You have at least 2 users experiencing the exact same problem and have video to prove it.. Lets get it fixed..

@Mark.Lancaster Mark seemed to have mentioned something about the default design data location in his post.. He hasn't returned yet to see if he has the same problem as Ali and myself yet..

I personally didn't have the problem..  I was assisting someone else that had this issue when they migrated their information from Inventor 2016 to 2017.   At one point while testing different things we ended up corrupting their design data on their shared location and I had them revert back to the original out-of-box design data (but the issue was still there)...

In the end the user redid their templates from scratch and they moved on..  Smiley Very Happy  I was just hoping this time around I could found a solution for it.   I was originally thinking that maybe in the conversion of design data & templates from one version to the next was causing the issue but I never found out if that was the case.

@Sofia.Xanthopoulou Sofia, Yes.. I understand what you were doing now.. And THAT is where the whole problem is (that you clearly don't have).. What is the "default(modeling)" style?

Seems both Ali and myself have this somehow in our "style and standard" libraries but cannot access it, cannot see what it really is or does or where it comes from or whatever.. Thats what this post is about really.. Thats why he showed a picture of his styles in the ipt to show you that there is no way to know/do,etc.. anything or to even find what that is.. So naturally we just say.. screw it and let it update... But thats where the loop happens over and over again.. we update in the template and save.. only to start a new part from that template and sure enough the warning comes up again saying its out of sync..

The warehouse lighting is NOT the issue.. Its whatever this "default(modeling)" style is..

I too ran across this last week as I was "attempting" to clean out my style library of other "corrupt" data..

Oh, great! I just started annoying our development again Smiley Surprised Now I can call it off Smiley Very Happy

Thank you very much for this update, Ali.

Maybe @mcgyvr, could try to reinstall, too. Let's see if this issue disappears there, too.

Please mark your post as accepted solution, because it is your experience other readers should be able to see.

Thanks for posting and happy holidays to you, too Smiley Happy

Absolutely Sophia,

I appreciate your support regardless 🙂

my  local reseller support rep (RedCage Solutions.) spent almost a day on it and what we ended up doing was to uninstall just the inventor part off my factory design suite, then going through windows registry and delete all the remaining stuff from 2015 and 2016 versions, we just made sure the antivirus is completely disarmed, and once done, reinstalled the inventor back on, updated it to 2017.3 and the problem is gone, it still showed the default modelling in the conflict list, but once saved onto library, it could push it and keep it, so it does not reoccur.

Hope this help,

Happy Holiday and have a wonderful 2017 🙂

Hi Sophia,

Happy new year,

Hope 2017 is off to a great start for you and the rest of the team,

I just wanted to give you an update that the bug is back on my inventor again, it was behaving for a while and I dont know what has triggered it to come back. the only thing that might have happened is the updates on Inventor that I get through desktop manager. other than that I cant think of any recent change and its mind bugling as to what can possibly cause this!

Sorry for the bad news, but I thought you need to be in the loop.

Regards
