I would like to ask for help/tutorials in set-up a structural analysis work flow to find a required section for window/door reinforcement to meet certain certification.

Thank you!

Hello @l.leuce do you have the doors/windows designed you need to perform analysis on?

Are you just looking for how to implement them into the structural analysis environment?

Also do you have the specs needed for the analysis to perform towards?

I believe this is something you can achieve with Inventor depending on your experience. A bit more information would be helpful as to what direction to point you towards. Thanks!

@kelly.young

Thank you for getting back to me!

We have window/doors products already design but we need also to look at other that will be designed in the future. I have specs/structural requirements for these products.

I am asking for help because I do not have experience in this structural analysis. I started to look for tutorials but I did not find something close to what I am expecting.

If you can guide me on how to set up a work flow for these specific products would a big help for me.

Thank you!

@l.leuce agreed, the Structural Analysis module can be a bit tricky. Are you using Frame Generator?

Would you be able to supply a simple frame and maybe a screenshot or image marked up showing where you are needing loads to be applied?

Even the most rudimentary of information will help to setup a scene for analysis rather that guessing on what you're trying to do.

There are some experts here that should be able to give you some great insight on which way to proceed. I'll do my best as well but I'm in the same boat, really interested in the capability but limited in real work experience and practical use. Been messing around with fence loads and retaining walls recently myself.

I can point you to a gamut of links but sounds like you've investigated them thoroughly already.

Hello @l.leuce just wanted to check back with you and see if you had any more information you can provide to run analysis on.

Something simple would be helpful to get started with. Thanks!

Sorry for late response, I had a week off. Here is an assembly as example for what I want to do with inventor frame analysis. And please share some tutorial links if possible so I can start study as well..

Thank you!

Are you using OOTB Inventor or do you have some add-in?

Inventor Frame Analysis only works for geometry created using the Frame Generator.

You would need to publish your structural profiles to the Content Center and use Frame Generator.

@l.leuce thanks for supplying the parts. What @JDMather was mentioning about the Frame Generator is what I was initially getting at.

If you can read up about how to publish structural shapes and see if it makes sense and report back.

The issue is that you might have to take a different approach to your design for the frame generator to be useful, but should pay off in the long run.

It sounds like you have a treasure trove of designs already made and probably parametric driven by some table, so recreating it all is probably not high on your list of things to do.

The positive is that if you create it with Frame Generator it will be easy to create rectangles that your custom channel sweeps around. Once you have the parameters and relationships setup it would be easy to change sizes and setup/run analysis.

Probably not the news you were looking for but in order to use the analysis functions some things have to be designed in a specific way.

Thanks for the response. I am currently using frame generator and publishing parts ..However, I do not know how to use structural analysis options from inventor (stress analysis or frame analysis).

I would like to ask for help/tutorials in set-up a structural analysis workflow in order to find a required section for window/door reinforcement to meet certain certification. Any links for this specific product or screencast is helpful.

I also added here a quick assembly mad with frame generator..

Thank you!!

Frame members 7 and 8 do not have material applied.

This could be done in the analysis, but should probably be done in the Frame Generator.
