I know this has been an issue I've seen posted previously but havent see any resolutions other than try to rebuild the overall assembly, geez!..

I have a rather large assembly using Inventor 2020.. I brought in a shrinkwrap IPT from a different user which is using Inventor 2021.. As soon as I did that, every time I now try to access the BOM or try to check in the Vault inventor crashes

@svoelzA44S6

When Inventor crashes, do you see the crash error report?  Do you send these in with your email address?  They actually do look at these, and can often see at least part of what the cause is.

I'm afraid I've never seen this error before, or know what a Stoul is... do you have any custom applications or ilogic rules running with that name?  @johnsonshiue , have you ever seen this error?

Hi Steve,

This is a bug. I recalled it was fixed in one of the updates. Please install the latest update and see if you can still reproduce it. If it still happens, I need to see the files.

Many thanks!

I do have the latest update loaded as of the other day and still have the same issue.. I did notice that I have some 3rd party remnant files shown in the screenshot that I'm suspecting may be causing the problem but I can only view when I'm in the vault tab and wont let me delete.. Any idea how I can remove and try to see if it's causing the problem? also, this is a very large IAM file, how can I best send it to you?

Hey, thanks for providing all the great info on this.  That should help Johnson and his team track it down.

For the third party stuff, you say that you cannot see that on the Model tab.... is there by any chance a part in your assembly with that same name, maybe something you imported or got from a third party?

If you do end up sharing the assembly, the best way to get the files all together would be Pack and Go.

The 3rd party remnants appear the baseframe subassy of the overall problem child IAM and only appear in the vault tab, not model tab so there's no way to delete.. I did notice that I dont get the stoul error in this subassy so the 3rd party files probably arent causing the main overall issue

Hi! I will need to see the files. Please share them with me directly [email protected] (email less than 50MB; or cloud drive of your choice).

Many thanks!

Looks like the native file remains corrupt until I do a 'pack n go.  within the pack n go everything seems to work well..

Hi! Another possibility is that the BOM view is corrupted. Try disable the BOM view and re-enable it. It may help.

Many thanks!

Hi @johnsonshiue

I have a customer also reporting the Stoul Argument error.  they cannot reproduce the error, but it happens about once per week.  The customer is on Inventor 2020.0.  Do you know when the fix was released?  I would like to have a specific version or 2020.X level update to recommend.  thanks

Hi! I don't remember the exact update that contains the fix. The latest 2020 update is 2020.4. Please have the customer install 2020.4.

Many thanks!
