Spiral-Helix in sheet metal

Hello All,

Need a little help. Trying to create a partial (80 degrees) spiral helix sheet metal pattern. I can generate the spiral helix model but cannot create a flat pattern.
I have tried using the COIL command but IV2010 complains that there is no solid body found to unfold. (Please see attached .jpg)
I have tried almost everything else I can think of.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! Based on the image you attached, it looks like you did not create the coil feature. As a result, flat pattern fails. Could you post the file here or send it to me?

Hi! Inventor does not support unfolding helical face. However, if you change the thickness to 19in, flat pattern will compute. It is because the inner face and outer face are analytical. But, I do not think the flat patterning process is consistent with your design intent.
