Specify an insertion point / grid reference on Inventor BIM model

Hi Everyone,

I've just started working on my first BIM project, and the BIM Coordination Manager has asked that I add the grid reference coordinates to my BIM model insertion point so that it snaps to the correct location when they imported into their BIM model. Any ideas how I do this?

Hi Mike,

In Author Building Components dialog, click Locate Insertion Points. If the insertion point is not on the geometry, you need to create a work point first.

Hi Evan,

I have created a series of construction lines to give me an accurate position for a work point (this unit is on the 11th floor) and have followed your instructions concerning the location point. I am about to resubmit the model to see if this has worked.
