Sketching lines too thin when using bootcamp/mac retina

Hi all,

Please see screenshot:

Annotation 2019-07-13 082532.png

Usability is challenging when using Inventor on mac (at least with this HD retina screen). Lines and points are so thin that it really takes some eagle-eyed precision to move and even snap things sometimes. More prone to causing errors aside from being inefficient.

Any ideas please?

Cheers

Looks pretty normal to me.

Try going to Tools>Application Options and on the General tab set Annotation scale to something like 2 or 2.5.

Does that help?Annotation Scale.PNG

Hello there.

I tried that and it helps with resizing icons, the coordinate symbol etc., but not the thickness of the line. I know it might look the same, but if you full screen that image you may notice lines are about 0.25 - 0.5mm thick - which is a real pain sometimes. Compared to this screenshot of some random guy's youtube tutorial:

I know it might seem like I'm fussing. But if you compare both of these images at full screen on here - I'm sure you can appreciate it might be a pain.

Hi! The sketch line weight control is in Tools -> Doc Settings. If you like the thicker line weight, you need to do the followings.

1) Open the template part file.

2) Go to Tools -> Doc Settings -> Sketch -> select "Display True Line Weight."

3) Create a 2D Sketch -> Line Format -> change the line weight from Default to any pre-defined thickness.

4) Create a rectangle and see if the thickness looks fine.

5) Finish the sketch and delete it.

6) Save the template file. Then any new part created in this template will have the thicker line weight. For existing file, you can do the same by following step 2 and 3.

Many thanks!

Thanks a lot!

A couple of questions:

"Create a 2D Sketch -> Line Format"... where do I find "line format" after creating sketch?

You mentioned editing the template, which I assume to be the default file for future docs, which is what I want to do. How do I find this template? Sorry I am basic at this - I want to train fully soon as I can.

Hi! In Sketch environment, go to the the far right panel -> Format. For templates, by default they are stored in the following location.

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2020\Templates

Many thanks!
