Inserting a part into a .ipt file

About three years ago I created some .ipt files which contained outlines of devices (typically, the hole that needs to be cut to accomodate and associated part.  I recall having to use "Make Part" to get a part that I could move around in another part file.  I need to use on of these, and I realized that I have forgotten how to insert one of these parts into another part file.  Sigh.  I tried searching the manual, but it is so badly organized that I cannot find out how to use the part I have already created.  So I need a nudge in the right direction.  Can someone remind me of how I did this back then?

Hi, I think what you need is to derive component. Follow the images. Insert in this way the geometry of the solid of a part in its new part

I hope this helps. regards
