sketching dimensions in fractional format

i would like to display my sketching dimensions in fractional format when im sketching

so when i retrieve my dimensions they are there in my idw instead of redimensioning at the idw level

im using inventor 2019 and 2020. any help would be appreciated

You would change your active drawing style to fractional in your style library/drawing template.

 

You do not change your sketch format..

I'm pretty sure when you retrieve your model dimensions it displays them in the active dimensions style of your drawing regardless of how they display in the sketch.

And you you write the dimensions as fractional in the sketch, it should display that way automatically.

Enter for example 1/2" will result in sketch fraction.

Hi! Like experts already mentioned, the parameters values you enter in sketch environment have nothing to do with how they are displayed in the drawing view. This is because the values are not static. It can be driven by equations or other parameters. There is no way to enforce a format across the board. The right way to control it is to use the appropriate fractional dimension style in drawing.
